2017 Lincoln MKZ Awarded Top Safety Rating From Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

When it comes to purchasing a vehicle, safety is one of the top factors you research before making your decision. When building vehicles, safety is number one for Lincoln. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recognized that when they awarded Lincoln the highest safety award.

Part of receiving this award was recognized due to Lincoln's front crash prevention system, which includes features that scan your surroundings before you do. If the driver does not respond on time, the system automatically pre-charges the breaks to reduce the severity of a collision.

To earn the Top Safety award, a vehicle must pass a variety of tests and receive high ratings of the effectiveness of it's crash prevention systems. During the tests, the Lincoln MKZ avoided collisions at 12 mph and 25 mph. It's forward collision warning feature also met the criteria for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Other Lincoln safety features that contributed to the Top Safety Rating includes a lane-keeping system that uses a front-facing cameras that detect the width between a lane. It will alert you when it is detecting drifting by the vibration of the steering wheel.

In addition, Lincoln's Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert uses sensors to detect if another vehicle is approaching you. Lights in the side view mirror will come on and an audible sound will alert you.
